Poor Thanksgiving gets treated like a middle child. It seems as soon as Halloween passes and Starbucks busts out their red cups people start listening to Christmas music, and poor sweet Thanksgiving gets passed over like a veggie tray at at kid's birthday party. I mean don't get me wrong, I know people still love to throw down some good Thanksgiving food; but decor wise by the time Thanksgiving rolls around many people already have their Christmas decorations in full swing. ..........and there's nothing wrong with that if that's your thing.
However, if you're still in the mood for fall inspired decor or are looking for ways to spruce up your home specifically for Thanksgiving. Here are a few ideas from the Our Fifth House archives to get your creative turkey juices flowing.

Looking for a simple centerpiece idea? Whip up a Thanksgiving tree. Just use old book pages as leaves and write down what you're thankful for, then attach to branches with tape, glue or if you collect vintage clip-on earrings, those work really well too. A display like this would also look great on a entry foyer table.
(Yes, I'm thankful for coffee. Is there a mother on Earth that isn't?)
Do you have any uncarved pumpkins sitting on your front porch? Get your kids involved in making hand turkeys to greet your Thanksgiving guests. Just be sure to use outdoor paint.
Speaking of getting the kids involved, a collection of kid painted pumpkins can really brighten up a Thanksgiving mantel.

Chances are pretty strong for me that I won't actually get around to doing a ton of decorating for Thanksgiving even though we are hosting this year. I'm still knee deep in just "setting up house" over here in our new home, oh who am I kidding, I'm up to my hips, so I'll be setting the table and calling her done......but I just may have the kiddos paint something "Thanksgiving-ish" on our three uncarved pumpkins out front.
