sparking joy with GlobeIn

I recently read The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo, and boy did it have a major impact on me. The book is in essence a how to book for organizing your home and your life; and while there were some great organization takeaways, what really left a lasting impression on me didn't have anything to do with organizing but everything to do with living a more purposeful life. Sounds pretty heavy for a book about tidying huh? Well, one of the main themes in the book is about the importance of discarding. The book basically gives you permission to let go of anything that doesn't "spark joy". There's a bit more to it than that, but basically the main tenant that Marie Kondo really drives home is that in order to tidy your home you have to get rid of all "the stuff"once and for all.

And while I've never been a hoarder or had trouble letting go of things I no longer need or want, the idea that we all have so much "stuff" cluttering up our lives really hit the nail on the head for me in terms of the way I buy things. If you go on a mission to rid your home of all the things you no longer need, like or want it makes sense then that you would be more mindful about the new things you do decide to bring into your home. Basically if you let go of anything you currently own that doesn't "spark joy" then you should only buy those things that do "spark joy" right? For me the book really changed the way I buy things for myself and my family, as well as the way I buy for others.

Which is why with gift giving season upon us I was so thrilled to find out about GlobeIn. When you buy something on GlobeIn, you are buying something that is more than just a thing. You are buying good things from good people who do good. You are purchasing products that support a more positive world. You're buying something that sparks joy!

The GlobeIn Artisan Box Subscription

The GlobeIn Artisan Box is a monthly gift box subscription. Each month, GlobeIn delivers "the globe in a box" - a themed collection of products, that are often organic and fair trade, made by artisans and farmers from around the world.

The GlobeIn Artisan Subscription Box

What I love most is that each box includes stories and photos on the country of origin of each product as well as the stories of the artisans and farmers, so you can see and learn how each item is made. It makes the items that much more special.

GlobeIn Artisan Box

GlobeIn is offering Our Fifth House readers 25% off their first month's box with the purchase of a 3 or 6 month artisan box subscription by using code: HOUSE#5. But you don't have to do a subscription, though that is definitely the best financial value; you can buy one time. The box I received is the cozy box, and it is filled with the best creature comforts for fall! I absolutely love this gorgeous hand made and painted mug from Nabeul, a city on the Mediterranean coast of northeastern Tunisia, and this beautiful scarf from Thailand that was weaved on a hand-built loom using 100% locally-grown cotton.
