why i love my tripod

If not for my tripod there's no way I would have been able to capture this.

Easy Family Halloween Costume - "Party Animals" - photo taken with tripod

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook then you already know the Phillips family went as "party animals" for Halloween this year. There is no possible way I would have been able to capture a decent picture of all four of us together if I didn't have a tripod. I've learned the hard way that trusting someone else with your camera can be a monumental mistake, unless of course that person is a professional photographer. I use my tripod mostly for taking pictures for the blog; but I also use it quite a bit for family photos because the most memorable moments in life deserve to be captured and typically tend to happen when there isn't a professional photographer in sight.

I feel like every family needs a tripod and a DSLR camera (this is the one I use). I feel like those should be items that are added to a baby registry…..seriously, every parent could benefit from having a good camera!

If not for a tripod, I'd never be in any of our photos. I'm much more comfortable behind the camera capturing my three hams……………..

…..but it's nice to capture the four of us together from time to time. This way my kids can look back and see that mom wasn't always nagging them to do their chores or forcing them to eat their vegetables.

I'm no professional photographer, far from it, but I've learned a thing or two about how to use my DSLR camera and shoot in manual mode. I shared a simple to understand photography cheat sheet a couple years ago, and I promise you if you've ever had trouble understanding photography terminology and how to manipulate your camera settings it will totally help you to make sense of what seems like Greek. It's not as hard as you might think!

I hope you all had a Happy Halloween! Did you dress up? If so, what did you go as? Anyone else at the point where if they see another bite-size piece of candy they're going to just completely lose it?! Geez…..I'm so over the candy already……I'm ready for pumpkin pie now! ;)
