outdoor design plans

September 11th. How can it be the 14th anniversary already? It still feels so fresh, maybe it always will. My heart is so heavy on this day every year. I pray we never forget. I hate to start out so somber on a Friday, but it just felt disingenuous to jump right in to discussing outdoor design plans without mention of the importance of this day. It's not just any ol' regular Friday. Today is a day to pause and remember those who lost their lives and those who continue to put their lives on the line for our freedom and safety.

In other not so serious news, while most other diy design bloggers have moved on to discussing all things related to fall decor #pumpkinsonparade, I'm the girl that's over here like, "Hey, let's keep talking about our outdoor spaces!" Because the thing is THIS is the time to get your outdoor projects on y'all! Everything is being marked down! Garden centers are clearing things out to make way for holiday stuff, so you can find some amazing deals on everything from plants and garden pavers to outdoor furniture and accessories. Can I get an amen?! Seriously, there is no better time than after Labor Day weekend to shop for your outdoor spaces. Fall is a fantastic time of year for new plantings, and the weather is just perfect for working outside on bigger projects like building decks or installing patios.

Speaking of which, last week when my dad was in town I hit up a sale at Lowe's (three 15x15 inch pavers for $10! You just can't beat that!) and decided to install a patio in our new backyard. Well, he installed the patio. I helped by bringing him waters and beer. ;) I'll share the steps and finished product on the blog next week.

I'm sure you're not surprised to hear that even before the pavers went down I was already dreaming about the decor of our new patio. A new blank space is always so fun to decorate especially when the prices on everything are so great! That being said, with so much good stuff on sale it can be really hard to make a decision. These are the three patio design boards I put together. Can you guess which one I chose?

What about you? Are you working on any outdoor projects right now or have you already turned into a pumpkin? ;)

Check out the patio at our last house (fifth house) here. That furniture ended up on our front porches at this house which I'll be sharing soon hopefully!

Happy weekend friends!
